John G. Varcadipone, 23, also admitted in Superior Court in Paterson to threatening to kill the woman during the March 18 argument.

He said he then went to the living room, picked up a wooden chair and beat the Siberian Husky, breaking the chair and killing the puppy.

Police found the dead dog’s blood strewn across the Travelo Drive home authorities told Daily Voice at the time.

In addition to the one-year prison teram, Varcadipone agreed to long-term probation of up to five years as part of a plea deal struck with prosecutors.

He also must undergo substance abuse counseling, batterers’ intervention counseling and community service.

“During his period of probation, [authorities] will be recommending that [Varcadipone] be prohibited from having any contact with domestic animals,” Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said Tuesday afternoon.

Varcadipone remained free on bail with a GPS monitoring bracelet, prohibited from contact with domestic animals, pending a Jan. 27 sentencing.

He pleaded guilty to animal cruelty and making terroristic threats.
