The driver said she lost control of her Toyota sedan while attempting to avoid a collision with the car in front of her on Summit Avenue just after 10:53 a.m., Hackensack Police Capt. Nicole Foley said.

The teen was applying her brakes when they failed her, so she attempted to swerve away when she lost control -- flipping the car onto the driver's side, Foley said.

The car sustained heavy damager but the driver suffered neck pain, and was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center along with her passenger, who was transported for precautionary reasons, according to police.
