We arrived in Lima on Election Day, little did we know that the whole country was dry. On the whole weekend of the elections, liquor sales or consumption is prohibited in Peru. We settled for Inka Kola. It tastes like sweet bubblegum flavored Sprite.

"This is Love Park in Lima It's surrounded by walls of romantic quotes scripted in mosaic tiles and in the center stands a statue of two lovers embracing each other and engaged in a passionate kiss."

"We visited a house in Cusco where the residents shared their home with guinea pigs. I cannot believe that all these animals plus rabbits and ducks lived there with the people. On special holidays they would eat one of the guinea pigs. Ugh!"

"A trip to the market was very interesting . . and, now that is some ear of corn. The kernels are as big as my little toe. And tough as a bunion. This corn appears in most of the Peruvian food. Crunch!"

"This pair of bulls is on the roofs of every house to protect the house. I bought a pair of blue ones, don’t know why, and if they will protect my mailbox."

"The 'totora' are dense roots support the top layer, which rots and must be replaced regularly by stacking more reeds on top of the layer beneath. The surface of the islands is uneven, thin it is like walking on a waterbed."

"We took a small plane flight to view the Nazca Lines in the desert. These lines are figures and lines that were carved into the desert by ancient Nazca people for religious or spiritual reasons. Another thought is that they were made by aliens."

"There 4,000 kinds of potatoes in {eru and I think I sampled every one of them. They mix their starches; potatoes, pasta and rice in the same dish. Even my omelet had rice underneath it and a potato on top."
