Paramus, BC, River Dell Wrestlers Advance To State Finals

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Four of 10 wrestlers from Bergen and Passaic counties headed to the finals Sunday of the 2016 NJSIAA Wrestling Championships in Atlantic City are from Bergen Catholic.

Of all the participating schools, it was the most from one to advance from the semifinals into the finals: 

  • Nick Suriano (undefeated)
  • Steve Griffith (undefeated)
  • Joe Grello 
  • Kevin Mulligan

The Passaic County finalist was Brandon Kui of DePaul High School in Wayne.

The rest: Michael O'Malley of Hasbrouck Heights; Kyle Cochran of Paramus; Kyle Bierdumpfel of Don Bosco, undefeated; Eric Chakonis of Don Bosco; and Joe Longobardi of River Dell.

The final round begins at 10 a.m. Sunday.
