Berkeley College Knights Win Title With 24th Straight Victory

WOODLAND PARK, N.J. -- The Berkeley College Knights' 24th straight win gave them their second straight United States Collegiate Athletic Conference (USCAA) Division II National Men’s Basketball title.

The Knights beat Central Penn College, 107-88, in New Rochelle for the longest winning streak in school history.

Earlier this year, the team also captured the 2016 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Championship, its eighth title in school history.Berkeley College has six locations in New Jersey – Woodland Park, Paramus, Clifton, Dover, Newark and Woodbridge.

“All season, our student-athletes remained humbled through all victories while working diligently to ensure that they gave themselves the best chance to win the next game,” head coach Chris Christiansen said.“Their actions and execution on the court spoke louder than their words."

Christiansen was voted HVIAC Co-Coach of the Year, while players Keenan Langston, Massiah Merritt, and Stephon Jennings received both HVIAC All-Conference and USCAA All-American status. Player Alessandro DeAngelis also made the USCAA National All-Academic team, boasting a 3.9 grade point average.

The two-time champions will be the guests of honor at an upcoming celebration at Berkeley College in Midtown Manhattan. The team will receive its championship rings later this year.
