The star soccer player signed a commitment with the University of Missouri at St. Louis last Wednesday. He will attend the school with a full ride, with combined athletic and academic scholarships. He plans to major in business.

A four-year varsity athlete at BHS, Ordonez was co-captain of the boys varsity soccer team.

"As First Team All-League in both his junior and senior years, Kevin is an all-year round soccer player who has dedicated himself extensively to both his academics as well as his community at large," the school district noted in an announcement on Facebook.

He was also a high-achiever in honors and AP classes, the district observed, even while balancing his extracurricular activities. His cumulative weighted GPA is 3.925. He's also continued volunteering at the Community Coaching Clinic.

"Sports have always been a monumental component of Kevin's life and have taught him invaluable lessons on teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship, and he has helped to pass on those values to the younger players," the district continued.

"He is an excellent role model and mentor, respected by faculty, coaches and peers for his easy-going nature and first-class work ethic."
