PARAMUS, N.J. -- Students from the Visitation Academy in Paramus took a cruise around Long Island Sound to learn more about marine science recently.
While on a boat called the Enviro Lab II, students brought in a net full of sea robins, crabs, flounder, skates, and even a squid. Many pounds of kelp were also brought up and examined.
Students used instruments to study water temperature, clarity, depth, and mud from the bottom and also had the opportunity to work with marine biologists and participated in a lesson on maps, estuaries, ocean gases, and pH value.
