PARAMUS, N.J. -- A woman who finally got around to cleaning out her late father's Paramus home found a harmless WWII-era mortar shell, said borough police, who had it removed.
"These kinds of things happen from time to time," Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg told Daily Voice. "She was cleaning out boxes from her father's house and found the 60mm round. It was inert."
Police summoned the Bergen County Bomb Squad as a precaution.
The chief urged citizens who find any suspicious-looking war surplus materials to contact his or her local police.
