The victim told police he was driving on River Road around 8:45 p.m. Feb. 4 when he was stopped by a black vehicle -- possibly a 2000-2006 Chevy Tahoe or Suburban -- with a mounted blue and red light.

That driver then approached her car and asked for his paperwork, Detective Sgt. Kevin Van Saders said Thursday morning.

He then then told him he "had unpaid summonses and that he could pay them to him at the scene," Van Saders said.

The victim told police he refused and the imposter drove away.

He described him as white, in his mid-to-late 20s, about 5-foot-8 and 200 pounds, with short salt and pepper hair and facial stubble.

He was wearing a blue police style shirt with an American flag patch, as well.

The victim said he didn't see a service weapon.

Van Saders asked that anyone who recognizes the man in the sketch above, or has information that can help the investigation, call New Milford police: (201) 261-1400.

"A Crime Stoppers reward will be given for any information leading to an arrest," he added.
