Officers and detectives called to 3rd Street near Morlot Avenue tracked down Jesse McCallum, 28, of Rutherford, and Shira Lazar, 25, of Teaneck, Wednesday afternoon in Paterson, Sgt. Brian Metzler said.

McCallum was carrying stolen credit and gift cards, compact discs and cash taken in the car burglaries, he said.

They were being held on $15,000 bail each in the Bergen County Jail, charged with burglary and theft. Lazar also was charged with drug and paraphernalia possession.

Working the case were Officers Brian Goodson and Brian Rypkema and Detectives Karen Censullo and Paul Donohue.

McCallum's arrest record includes charges of stealing two cars in separate incidents last year -- one from a Rutherford 7-Eleven parking lot and another from a Union Avenue resident's driveway.

Two months earlier, authorities said, he took a 2014 Ford Explorer from the front of a Union Avenue restaurant and led Nutley police on a brief chase before crashing on northbound Route 21.

He tried to run but was caught by a Passaic officer, they said.
