Store security and mall guards stopped Shyqueena Shipman and Kiana T. Miller, both 20, after they walked out of the Garden State Plaza store yesterday with $541 worth of merchandise, Deputy Police Chief Robert M. Guidetti said this afternoon.

Shipman sprayed their pursuers in an attempt to escape, but Officer Andrew Cofone grabbed her and Miller, the deputy chief said. They had with them a Michael Kors hand bag and Steve Madden and Nine West shoes, he said.

The loss prevention and mall security officers were treated at the scene for exposure to the chemical on their faces and hands, Guidetti said.

Shipman was being held on $2,500 bail in the Bergen County Jail, chargd with robbery, assault and two weapons possession counts.

Miller was released on a court summons charging her with robbery.

Both have first appearances scheduled next Wednesday in Municipal Court.
