Officer Keith Bland spotted 26-year-old Kemar D. Bogle of East Orange in a Route 4 mall parking lot while responding to the theft call of cologne and men’s clothes on Saturday.

As Bland began taking him into custody, Bogle (above, left) hit him in the head with his arm, Detective Capt. Robert M. Guidetti said.

Detective Thomas Schroeder, hearing Bogle’s description over his police radio, spotted him trying to hide in the area of Madison Avenue moments later, Guidetti said.

He chased Bogle a short distance and caught him. Bogle was carrying a small amount of pot on him, the captain said.

Meanwhile, Bland found the second suspect — later identified as Nico Phillips, 22, of Jamaica, Queens — hiding between cars in the parking lot, Guidetti said.

Bogle was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property ($305 worth) and misdemeanor pot possession. He was being held on $10,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.

Phillips posted $2,500 bail and was released on a fourth-degree shoplifting charge.

Both are due for June 12 Municipal Court appearances, Guidetti said.
