YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Surveillance video at the Garden State Plaza Lord & Taylor store in Paramus led to the arrest of a 55-year-old Dumont man on charges of trying to steal $4,270 worth of women’s watches.
It also has them looking for an accomplice who they said tried to conceal the attempt.
Paramus police arrested Randolph Sutton at his home on Friday, Deputy Police Chief Robert M. Guidetti said this afternoon.
Lord & Taylor security officers on Aug. 9 said Sutton tried opening a secured watch carousel containing the Michael Kors watches, valued from $275 to $375, several times before leaving the store.
Reviewing the video, Detective Sgt. Frank Scott recognized Sutton, who Guidetti said used a key modified to open the case.
Scott also spotted a lookout “ attempting to conceal Sulton’s actions from the view of store employees,” the deputy chief said.
“This subject has not been identified and detectives are continuing to investigate,” he said.
Sutton was being held on $5,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, cahrged with attempted theft and possession of burglary tools.
