ORADELL, N.J. — After 13 years of planning, the Oradell Fire Department broke ground on a new memorial and plaza outside of the fire house Monday morning.
The original memorial was removed while major construction was taking place at the firehouse to lower the floors and widen the apparatus doors in 2003, the department announced in a press release.
Footings are being dug on Monday to support the original fire house gong.
The work is expected to be complete in approximately six weeks.
