ORADELL, N.J. -- A black man in a black knit hat and gold scarf robbed the Hudson City Savings Bank on Kinderkamack Road in Oradell of a reported $8,600 around 10:10 a.m. Tuesday, authorities said.

He claimed to have a gun but didn't show it, they said. He was described as about 30 years old, 5-foot-8 and 175 or so pounds with a black goatee.

Borough police responded and notified the FBI.

It was the fifth robbery of a Hudson City branch in Bergen County in the past four and a half months.

A man who robbed the New Milford branch of about $4,800 on Oct. 23, was described as black, about 5-foot-5 and in his late 20s. He was neatly-dressed and had a painted-on beard, police said.

The most recent Hudson City holdup was on Dec. 3 in Lyndhurst, where police said a tall man in a Jets cap and large glasses put a bag on the counter and told a teller to fill it.

Nearly a month earlier, on Nov. 6, a 6-foot-tall, full-bearded man robbed a Hudson City branch in Glen Rock of at least $5,000 cash by "simulating a handgun."

On Aug. 12, a robber believed to be just under 6 feet tall held up a Hudson City branch on Main Street in River Edge. Surveillance images show him in a pink shirt, white twill pants and dark sunglasses, carrying a black bag.
