OAKLAND, N.J. – Oakland police revived two overdosing drug users in less than a day with Narcan.

Responding to an emergency call at a Riverside Drive home just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, Acting Sgt. Ryan O'Keefe and Officers Gary Fiore and Joseph Noury found an unresponsive 40-year-old Haskell man in the bathroom and a woman trying to revive him, Lt. Christian Eldridge told Daily Voice.

O’Keefe administered two doses of Narcan and he “began to breathe on his own and later started to speak,” Eldridge said.

The Oakland First Aid Squad took him to a local hospital for further treatment and evaluation.

Just after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, O’Keefe and Fiore responded to the Ramapo Lodge Motel on Ramapo Valley Road, where O’Keefe revived a 45-year-old Roxbury Township man with two doses of the anti-opioid nasal spray, the lieutenant said.

“Drug evidence was collected and removed from the scene and the man was transported to a local hospital for further treatment,” Eldridge said.

Officer Don Harvey assisted, he said.
