The zoo ordinarily is open until 4:30 every day, but officials have made summer accommodations for those who are away on the weekend or working during the week.

The zoo offers a variety of special programs, including hosting birthday parties and other special educational, fun events for youngsters. There are also special events for adults. MORE INFO: Van Saun Park Zoo

Live animal shows are held daily in the outdoor amphitheater, and the train and carousel operate every day with limited exceptions. Then there are the pony rides.

If you’re a Bergen County resident, admission is only $4 for adults and $2 for children ages 3 to 14 (under 3 is free).

Non resident adults pay $8 and children 3 to 4 $5.

Seniors (62 and up) and the disabled pay $1 (Bergen resident) or $2.
