Girl With Knife Committed To Bergen Regional, Authorities Say

PARAMUS, N.J. -- A girl was found carrying a knife after she began arguing with her mother in the parking lot of Bergen Regional Medical Center, authorities said.

The knife "was not used in a menacing way," Anthony Cureton of the Bergen County Sheriff's Office said after the incident Wednesday morning in the Paramus hospital's parking lot.

No delinquency complaints were filed against the girl, who was involuntarily committed to the psychiatric hospital.
