Hans Jochimsen was arrested after detectives determined that his 1992 Toyota Camry struck 57-year-old Byron Murphy of New York as Murphy crossed Lemoine Avenue just after 6 a.m. Sunday, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.

Murphy remained in critical but stable condition at Hackensack University Medical Center, Grewal said.

Jochimsen, who lives on Linwood Avenue, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury and released pending a March 3 first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, the prosecutor said.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit (FAIU) and Fort Lee police, Grewal said.
