William Coogan, 98, New Milford Resident

NEW MILFORD, N.J. – William (Bill) Coogan, of New Milford, died Monday, June 13. He was 98.

He was a resident of New Milford for 65 years. He was a World War II U.S. Army/Air Force veteran who served in the European Theater. He retired as a vice president of East River Savings Bank. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church for more than  65 years and served as a Eucharistic minister. He was a member of and Past Grand Knight of St. Joseph’s Knights of Columbus Council #3814 and was one of the three founding members of the St. Joseph’s Athletic Association in the 60s.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Pat; children, Bill (Kim), Patti (Tom), Kathi (Jay), Tim (Kathy), Bob (Donna) and daughter-in-law Karen; grandchildren, Kevin (Melissa), Justine (Liz), Jamie (Gregg), Kerri (Brad), Jesse (Savannah), Shauna (Kevin), Meghan (Rob), Brandy (Chris), Sean (Meghan), Kellie (Nick), Brian, Jenna and Kayla; and great-grandchildren, Kiera, Connor, Mara, Kaden, Logan, Kalli, Cierra, Drew, Ali, Bria, Eleanor, Lucy, Jaxson, Brendan, Clara, Thomas, Harper, Hunter, Hadley, Dylan and Jack.

He was predeceased by his son, Brian Patrick.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the William G. Basralian Funeral Home, 559 Kinderkmack Road Oradell. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Oradell. Interment will follow at the Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.
