Thomas D'Alessandro, 80, of Paramus

PARAMUS, N.J. -- Thomas D'Alessandro, of Paramus, died on Friday, Jan. 6. He was 80.

Born and raised in the Bronx, D'Alessandro was a graduate and star athlete of Evander Childs High School, where he earned multiple scholarships in several sports. Before he retired in 1998, he was a building inspector with the City of New York for 35 years. After retirement, he ran Tom's Feed Shop in Paterson for 10 years.

He was a parishioner of Church of the Annunciation, in Paramus. "An avid racing pigeon flyer, his true enjoyment came from spending time with family, especially his children and grandchildren who he loved immensely," information from the funeral home noted.

D'Alessandro was predeceased by his wife, Elaine (Barker) D'Alessandro.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 9, at the Church of the Annunciation, 50 W. Midland Ave., in Paramus. Interment will be at George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus. The Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, in Fair Lawn, is assisting with arrangements.
