PARAMUS, N.J. – Roy Frederick Bushman, a longtime resident of Paramus, died Saturday, Feb. 27. He was 94.
Bushman served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was the long time proprietor of Roy’s Sunoco in Ridgefield, where he often worked 12 hours a day, six days a week to better provide for his family. He was a parishioner of RC Church of the Annunciation in Paramus.
He is survived by his son, Gregory Bushman, and his wife, Ellen, of New York, NY; daughter, Paulette Mahoney and her husband, John, of Highland Lakes; son, Randolph Bushman, and his partner, Rosann of Camarillo; daughter, Stephanie Bartuccelli and her husband, Frank, of Ramsey; and Roy F. Bushman Jr., and his wife, Rose, of Hackensack; grandchildren, Gabrielle Fitzgerald; Gregory and Geoffrey Bushman, James and Michael Mahoney, Nicole, Erica, Lisa, and Frank Bartuccelli, Jacqueline Bushman; and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by sister-in-laws, Margaret Bushman; Adelaide Auwerda; and Beatrice Tangel and her husband Edward. He had 35 nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Augusta Bushman; wife, Rosalie; his brothers, Robert; and Walter and his wife, Betty; his sister, Gertrude Senior and her husband, Francis; and brothers-in-law, Vincent deLyra and his wife, Charlotte; Theodore deLyra and his wife, Ann; Ramond deLyra; and Jack Auwerda.
The family will honor his wishes for a private service. Roy and Rosalie’s ashes will be buried at sea by the Department of the Navy. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made in Roy’s memory to the NJ Veterans Memorial Home, located at 1 Veterans Drive, in Paramus 07652.
