PARAMUS, N.J. – Peter C. George, 89, of Paramus, died Saturday, Oct. 31.
Born and raised in Asgata, Cyprus, he immigrated to the United States in 1947, and settled in Fair Lawn in 1947 and then Paramus in 1977. An active member of his community, he was a member of St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church in Paramus and was a member of their Seniors Club, AHEPA Alexander Hamilton Chapter # 54, Carpenters Union, Asgata Association of Cyprus, Paramus Seniors and the Fair Lawn Auxiliary Police Department.
Prior to retiring, he worked as a carpenter for the local carpenters union for many years.
He was the husband of Chryssi (Ioannou) George for 59 years; father of Dr. Louis George and his wife, Kathy; Dino George and wife, Carolyn; Helena Loveless and her husband, Scott; and Evans George and his wife, Marcina; and grandfather of six.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5-9 p.m.Wednesday with an 8:15 p.m. Parastas service at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Athanasios GO Church, 51 Paramus Road, Paramus. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the church.
