ORADELL, N.J. -- John Paul Della Torre passed away peacefully March 30 surrounded by his family, just three days after celebrating his 91st birthday.
A longtime resident of Oradell and previously Ridgefield Park, Della Torre was an avid sports fan and enjoyed coaching his children’s sports teams.
A veteran of Worl War II, he served as a merchant marine, where he participated in the rescue mission of the torpedoed U.S.S. Susan B. Anthony.
He was a retiree from MetLife, where he worked 35 years as an insurance agent.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Faye Della Torre. He also was the father of Adele Della Torre and her husband Spencer H. Kubo,, Neil Della Torre and Sue Meister, Carol and Gary Lahti and Victor and Madeline Della Torre; grandfather of 11 grandchildren and great-grandfather to three.
The family will have a memorial Mass at 11:30 a.m. July 30 at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, 300 Elm St, Oradell.
