Three Injured In Amtrak Train Derailment, Penn Station Service Suspended

Rail service in and out of Penn Station in New York City is being diverted to Hoboken Terminal due to a derailed Amtrak train Friday morning, NJ Transit announced.

Three people suffered injuries after an Amtrak Acela departing Penn Station made contact with a New Jersey Transit train in the station, according to multiple reports.

Approximately 300 passengers were removed from the train. Cross honoring is in effect system-wide with NJT bus, private carriers and PATH.

Twitter user Jordan Geary reported his train collided with another, blowing his window out and into him. 

"Thankfully everyone is okay," he said.

"What happened today was scary as hell," he said in a later tweet.
