PARAMUS, N.J. — Traffic piled up along North Fairview Avenue in Paramus Thursday while PSE&G teams worked to replaced a gas line.

Cars were backed up to the boarder of the Route 17 on-ramp in Rochelle Park just before 5 p.m.

The project is part of a statewide initiative to improve electric reliability to its utility infrastructure, intended to increase electric service reliability and system redundancy, according to the PSE&G website.

New 69kV Gas Insulated Switchgear will be installed at our Paramus substation. This new equipment will not be visible to the public as it will be housed indoors.

Approximately 121 utility poles will be replaced in the Borough Paramus, over a distance of 2.85 miles, and new circuits will be added to an existing pole line.
