EDGEWATER, N.J. — All seven puppies from Edgewater's NY Puppy Club were impounded at the Bergen County Animal Shelter Friday after concerned citizens urged borough officials to enforce a puppy mill ordinance , shelter officials told Daily Voice.

"None of them are in life-threatening situations," Director of Animal Services Deborah Yankow said. "They are all active and eating."

The shelter is in th eprocess of evaluating the dogs.

NY Puppy Club is still operating as a grooming salon but was forced to stop selling puppies, officials said.

The Edgewater Health Department came into the store on June 13 because of a complaint, store owner Dae Man Yoon said.

On June 16, ASPC Officer William Hollenfer investigated the store and told Yoon he had never seen a store as clean as theirs, Yoon told Daily Voice.

Yoon maintains that all of his puppies come from reputable breeders with a USDA government license.

"There are puppies here that are about six months old but they have all the shots required to be in the daycare so during the day they are playing with all the dogs in a huge area designed for group play," Yoon said.

"The only time they go back into their respective room is when they have to eat and go to sleep"
