Jersey Women Strong raised nearly $6,800 in its sixth annual Running for Turkeys Campaign, which translates into 120 Thanksgiving meals for families in the Center for Hope and Safety’s transitional housing program.

On Monday, members delivered 120 turkeys, bags of sides, pies, bags of rolls and $20 Shop-Rite gift cards to the Rochelle Park domestic violence agency.

"We work out together, we train together, we race together," said the group’s founder, Dana White, of Waldwick. "But we also go out and make a difference in the community at the same time."

Jersey Women Strong has about 150 members from Bergen, Passaic and Rockland Counties.

Its mission is to “empower women to improve their own well-being through fitness and exercise, while at the same time strengthening our local communities through philanthropic outreach and volunteerism.”
