The 22-year-old has fond memories of community service trips with her cousins and uncle, Montvale Mayor Mike Ghassali, the vice president of Corporate Partnerships for the nonprofit Feed The Children.

One small push last summer from fiancee Petey Aiosa of Elmwood Park, though, was all Ghassali needed to launch a toy drive.

“It costs nothing, we lose nothing and we get a lot out of it,” said Ghassali, whose more than 200 toys collected last holiday season were delivered to sick children in a Newark hospital.

This year, Ghassali and Aiosa’s “Joy of Toys” drive will go toward Hackensack’s CASA, a nonprofit organization that advocates for children removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.

“They don’t have at home,” Ghassali said. “We figured it would be cool to donate to them.

“They could use the extra love during holidays.”
