Paramus Trainer Keeps Things Heavy In Gym, Light On Bergen Facebook Page

PARAMUS, N.J. – Janna Vorontsova of Paramus could hardly believe it when she was kicked off a Facebook page because she wasn’t a resident of Ridgewood.

So she started a page for residents in all towns: We Live In Bergen County.

“A lot of groups are segregated by towns and don’t allow other people to come in,” said Vorontsova, a personal trainer. “I like inclusion so I created a page that’s for all the towns, all the people.”

She likes to keep the content light — no accidents, no police reports.

There are other rules, though. No selling of personal items and no local business ads — except on Mondays when they are allowed under a designated post.

Other than that, Vorontsova said, the site, started 18 months ago, is thriving with an exchange of restaurant reviews, pictures of sunrises and other scenes, local news, event information, and fun articles about interesting Bergen people.

The site, now run by other people, has almost 5,000 followers.

Vorontsova keeps her hand in the site though the mother of two grown daughters is busy working out and working with her fitness clients—men, women, and teens. Through her business, JannaFit, she offers in-home personal training sessions.

Always a sports lover, she used to compete professionally in rowing in her native Moscow.

“It’s a lot of work to stay fit,” Vorontsova said. “I spent two hours working out at the gym today.”

To her, the effort is worth the time.

“I am 47,” she said. “When you get to this age and you feel strong, it’s good. I hope to inspire other women.”

She’s already inspired her oldest daughter, Alexandra, 21, who inherited her mother’s passion for exercising. Alexandra, who studies mechanical engineering at the University of Delaware, is Miss Delaware USA 2016.

Next month she will compete in the 2016 Miss USA Pageant in Las Vegas.

On her Miss USA page, she writes that, no matter what goals people have for their lives, everyone’s most important accomplishment is achieving a healthy body and mind, eating well, exercising, and relaxing when necessary.

Janna Vorontsova’s website, www.JannaFit.com , carries a similarly upbeat message: “Strength is the master human quality. It is the capacity which lifts all other capacities.”

Like mother, like daughter.
