PARAMUS, N.J.– Lois Kramer-Perez taps a crystal bowl, sending out a loud vibration in the quiet of a Paramus living room.
Kramer-Perez offers "Vitamin C for the soul" through tips and tricks on Feng Shui, available in the upcoming "Breakthrough Results," which she co-authored.
“It all begins with taking a deep breath and redirecting focus...having an awareness to shift whatever you’re connected to,” Kramer-Perez told Daily Voice.
The theme of her most recent guided meditation session is "springing into spring," a time of "new beginnings."
The natural light peers through a back window in the mostly darkened living room. Light purple flowers line a table filled with rocks and other holistic items, forming a so-called altar. Small candles flicker at the corners.
Six women sit on chairs and a couch in a circle around the table.
Kramer-Perez taps the crystal bowl – this one specially calibrated for the heart chakra.
The frequency is what "brings healing to the body," she said.
In a sing-song voice, Kramer-Perez guides her female clients through their "trip."
"Feel your chakra smiling," she tells the group. "Feel your seed sprouting, your roots connecting with the earth."
Attendees included a River Edge psychotherapist who only gave her name as Loren.
She came to "give back to myself."
"You let go of your thoughts," said Loren, who works primarily with caregivers. "It's an easy, relaxed, nonjudgmental place to be."
Kramer-Perez began her "journey to healing" after her husband died of a heart attack in 2000. She quit her fashion industry job after 33 years, and traveled the world learning the art of Feng Shui – a Chinese philosophical system of harmonizing with the environment.
"I knew there was something else out there for me," said the intuitive practitioner, who is also trained in hypnosis. "I feel like I have the best life ever."
Kramer-Perez contributes to magazines and blogs, hosts seminars and distributes a weekly newsletter. Last year, she was a guest on the Dr. Joy Show.
“The more you learn, the more you have to share," she said.
