PARAMUS, N.J. — Two women, one from River Edge and the other from Paramus, are joining their CrossFit coach in the New York City Marathon tomorrow to help raise money for a charity that helps fallen and wounded soldiers.
Dina Wilson, of Paramus, and Jody Pescatore, of River Edge, along with coach Dan Sullivan, raised $9,000 and will run alongside each other in the Nov. 1 Manhattan tradition ( SEE: River Edge Man Gears Up For First New York City Marathon ).
This will be the first marathon for all three athletes, who will run side-by-side.
“I had back surgery in 2006 and was told I’d never run again,” said Pescatore, of River Edge. “So this will be quite an accomplishment for me.”
Aside from one 5K race with her mom when she was 12, Pescatore, now 40, has “never been a runner.” Her goal is simply to cross the finish line.
Wilson is curious as to what her time will be, as she only began training in January in preparation for a half-marathon in April.
“I’m ready, I’m excited,” she said. “I’ve never been running through the streets of New York City.”
