PARAMUS, N.J. — The borough-based Dancer's Dream Fund will team up with another nonprofit organization later this month when it begins rehearsals at Peak Fitness and Performing Arts Center's 11,000-square-foot facility in Ridgefield.

DDF, which has been using rented and donated space around Bergen County, will partner with Reach Out Inc., a nonprofit founded by Peak's owner, Lori Michaels, that raises awareness about the perils of drugs, alcohol, violence, prejudice, and life threatening diseases.

"As a young nonprofit we're still kind of finding our way and I'm looking at (Lori) as a role model for what I want our nonprofit to become," said Monica Byrne, who co-founded DDF with three moms she met through fundraising events for her daughter's dance team in 2012. "Partnering up in this program is a good step in that direction."

Dancer's Dream Fund's mission "is very much so in alignment with what we do with our nonprofit," Michaels said. "Over the past year we’ve partnered up together on a few events and we also have talked about expanding what we do."

The organizations will hold their first joint meeting on Sept. 27 in Ridgefield to discuss upcoming rehearsals at Peak's Grand Avenue facility and performances at hospitals, street fairs and and other community fundraisers in the area.

"This was a natural collaboration and partnership -- not only to help kids but families and surrounding communities in the arts to really just to be happy and to enjoy life and be the best they can be," Michaels said.

The only program that won't be moved is a music and movement class for disabled children, she said.

DDF also has an Adopt a Dancer program and a troupe that recently performed at a New Jersey Devils game to raise money for grants and scholarships.

Reach Out Inc. and DDF are looking for dancers, vocalists, musicians and anyone interested in learning more about behind-the-scenes productions to help make giving back possible.
