"A simple mistake led to what I believe was the greatest thing to ever happen to me.

"I was completing high school soccer capsules for The Record and was given each coach's contact information. One by one, I began reaching out to each of them, including the Lyndhurst girls coach. Turns out, she was already interviewed by a colleague; I was actually supposed to to talk to the Leonia coach!

"Before I found that out, that little mix up led to me talking to my future wife for the first time. (I already had her phone number...how lucky was I?) We kept in touch, and finally hung out some months later. That led to a happy and loving relationship.

"I eventually proposed on the beach -- her favorite place -- and we got married in July 2015, also on the beach. We had perfect weather -- sunny, just enough wind to keep us cool -- despite rain being in the forecast. It was the happiest day of my life.

"Now, we're expecting a child in June. If it's a girl -- we've elected to be surprised -- she will become my newest Valentine."
