ORADELL, N.J. -- The Book and Needle Woman's Club of Oradell recently held its annual Spring Luncheon at Lieto's Restaurant in New Milford, and presented a $1,000 check to the Center For Hope and Safety.
Thirty-five club members attended, as well as special guest Jean Kirch, director of development for the Center For Hope and Safety, formerly called Shelter Our Sisters. Kirsch accepted the check from the women's club and spoke about the Center's mission to assist women and children who are victims of domestic violence, including emotional, economic, sexual and physical abuse.
The agency provides a continuum of services, focused on safety, empowerment and self-sufficiency. Through community partnerships, the Center raises awareness, provides services and educates community members about domestic violence. Visit its website for more information.
The Book and Needle Woman's Club of Oradell is a member of the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs, the largest volunteer women's service organization in the state -- "providing opportunities for education, leadership training and community service, and making a difference in the lives of others, one project at a time," as noted in a news release.
