RIVER EDGE, N.J. — Sinead Samuel of River Edge thought being diagnosed with diabetes when she was 11 would be the most difficult thing she'd have to deal with in her life.
Instead, it's become a huge opportunity, she said.
"I've learned and met with a lot of families that don't have the necessary funds to get their kids proper treatment or insurance to cover the hassle of medical bills," Samuel said. "I want to make a difference and raise awareness to help these families out."
She recently launched a GoFundMe campaign to help raised funds for research and new treatments for diabetics, specifically those in financial distress.
