Michelle Torpey had raised $645 for the unit as of Thursday evening on a GoFundMe page.
"While eventually the government process may approve the funds to purchase this unit over the next year, I feel strongly, we as residents, would want to see this in place yesterday," Torpey said.
"This is not a cure all for this disease, but it is a critical and easy tactic to implement to help combat prescription drug and opioid abuse."
The unit will be in a local pharmacy that Torpey says can offer counseling, and is an environmentally friendly solution.
