PARAMUS, N.J. -- For the 12th consecutive year, Paramus was named one of the "Best Communities for Music Education in America" by the National Association of Music Merchants.
This award is given to communities whose programs exemplify commitment to music education. The initiative recognizes and celebrates communities and their school administrators, teachers, board members, parents, community leaders and students for their support and commitment to their music education programs.
"A special thank you to the Board of Education, Dr. Robinson, Mr. Adams, Mr. Cea, K-12 principals, our talented and dedicated music teachers, the Music Parents Association, and our extremely talented music students for supporting music education in Paramus," a news release noted.
Designations are given to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education. Schools receiving the SupportMusic Merit Award designation in 2016 include both public and private schools and range from elementary to middle and high schools. The recognition was based on a number of factors, including funding, staffing of highly qualified teachers, commitment to standards, community support, participation and access to music instruction.
