Paramus Cooking Class Will Pickle Almost Anything

Learn how to can and preserve food in cooking classes Cuisinart is sponsoring at The Culinary Superstore in Paramus. The first class is Saturday, Aug. 13.

Canning is a tradition in many cultures, with families recipes proudly passed down for generations.

Technology has brought new ways to can and preserve food that improve quality and shelf life. 

The classes will give the basics of pickling and canning, as well as identifying equipment needed to get started. 

Students Saturday will receive four jars each of cornichons (small gherkins)and dill pickles, and two jars of sweet yellow tomato chutney. 

The class runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Next will be High Acid Canning Aug. 20 and Low Acid Canning Aug. 27.
