PARAMUS, N.J. -- Paramus is hosting the First Annual Hero 5K Run and 1 Mile Family Fun Run on Sunday, Oct. 23, on the Bergen Community College campus.

The BCC Wellness and Exercise Science Department and the BCC Foundations are hosting the event, to benefit Bergen Community College's heroes -- veterans -- and the foundation's Emergency Student Support.

"Come dressed as your favorite super hero to show your support for BCC's veterans," organizers note.

When the 5K race begins, at 8:30 a.m., a "family village" will be open for the kids to play in, including a bouncy house, face-painting, balloon animals, egg races, potato-sack races and little-guys soccer.

The family village will be open from 8 a.m. to noon.

There will be awards for the top three overall, top three women and top three men. They'll be handed out at 10:30 a.m.

The Fun Run will begin at 10 a.m. Only kids will register and compete in this race, but adults are welcome to walk or run with their kids. Kids who register will get a free t-shirt.

Registration for the 5K is $25, and its $10 for the Fun Run. Register online here.

Check-in begins at 7 a.m., and you can register online the day of the race, even at check-in. The race will begin at 400 Paramus Road, in Paramus.
