PARAMUS, N.J. -- "Backstage," a free concert series showcasing emerging artists, will be coming to the Westfield Garden State Plaza mall, due to a partnership with Englewood's bergenPAC. The series begins Thursday, April 21.
The concerts will be on Thursdays, over eight weeks. Here are the performers:
Thursday April 21 -- Scott DeCarlo -- "With the street smarts and strength of a New Jersey police sergeant and the musicianship and voice of a country singer, DeCarlo is using his unique sound to take the country music scene by storm," a news release noted.
Thursday, April 28 -- Shake Rattle & Roll Dueling Pianos -- Dueling pianos originated in New Orleans in the 1930s and spread west across the nation. "Fresh from Fox's "Don't Forget the Lyrics," where he remains the all-time champion, Mark Weiser and his team bring the party to every performance with fun and interactive dancing and singing along to all of your favorites."
Thursday, May 5 -- Jay Mickens -- Singer-songwriter Mickens hails from Prospect Park. He began his music career at 18 and is influenced musical greats as varied as Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer and Dave Mathews Band.
Thursday, May 12 -- Matt O'Ree -- "O'Ree has been cranking out the blues-rock since he was an early teen. "He plays with fire in his fingers and blues in his soul."
Thursday, May 19 -- Caitlin Caporale -- Caporale appeared in season eight of "The Voice." Her blind audition video has surpassed 5 million views, and she's won a variety of singing competitions in the tri-state area.
Thursday, May 26 -- Shake Rattle & Roll Dueling Pianos
Thursday, June 2 -- Eryn Shewall -- Shewell pairs a respect for the traditions of jazz, blues and country with a modern pop style.
Thursday, June 9 -- Regina Sayles -- This dynamic singer-songwriter blends genres such as pop, jazz, soul and country.
Each concert will be from 5-8 p.m. The Westfield Garden State Plaza is located at 1 Garden State Plaza, in Paramus. The events are located in Macy's Court, where the carousel once stood, near Ruby Tuesday's.
