The stylist and his wife, Maria, recently expanded their hair salon — New York Jungle Hair, Body and Soul — from Tappan, N.Y. to Route 17 in Paramus.

For them, it's all about the art.

"We take control of how we artistically do hair rather than how we theoretically do it for the money," said Kons, of Piermont, N.Y. "Every single head is a work of art."

The salon, located above the Verizon store next to Shake Shack, offers facials, massage therapy, manicures and pedicures. It has 16 hair stations, two barber stations and 12 color stations.

It's all Kons needs to make a masterpiece.

"We're not like a mechanic, just turning bolts, reading software," he said. "Every head is different. We take all hair tones, skin colors, eye colors into account.

"No one wants to be in a chair for an hour and a half just to get a haircut, but we don't do it in 30 minutes either."

It should be an all-around relaxing and fun experience for clients, Kons said.

"Go big or go home," he said.

The salon is located at 469 Route 17 in Paramus.
